PARENT COMMUNICATION – NAPLAN Technical issues

Subject: Governor Stirling SHS – NAPLAN Technical issues

Dear Parents/Guardians

Unfortunately some of our Year 7 and Year 9 students were affected by technical issues whilst undertaking the online NAPLAN Writing component on Tuesday. As a result of the technical issues, some students were regularly interrupted whilst completing NAPLAN.

We have notified the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) about the situation and expressed our concern about the implications of the technical issues on the performance of our students. We have been informed that the technical issues experienced by our students were not particular to Governor Stirling SHS and that thousands of students across Australia were affected in a similar way.

SCSA are currently investigating the data from yesterday’s online NAPLAN and are considering the best way to respond to the situation. They will issue their response as soon as possible. At this stage we will continue with the implementation of the remaining online NAPLAN assessments as per our planned schedule. The school will communicate to parents any further developments regarding NAPLAN as information becomes available.

Kind Regards

Leonie Squire
