Netball
The Netball Program was introduced to Governor Stirling Senior High School in 2005. Students are able to enrol in the Netball Program as a full-time subject from Years 8-12. The Netball Program involves four contact hours per week consisting of both theory and practical based content, and the chance to experience interstate and overseas travel and competition..
The Course
The Year 8-10 program concentrates on (1) development of skills, (2) game strategies, (3) fitness, (4) health education and (5) umpiring and coaching techniques. In Year 11 and 12 the program includes (1) further skill development, (2) advanced game strategies, (3) training methods, (4) theory work on human anatomy, community sport and recreation and health and fitness nutrition, and (5) umpiring and coaching to Level 1 Accreditation. Intra-state and Interstate competitions are also features of the program.
From 2012 Year 11 and 12 students will be completing Certificate 2 in Career Oriented Sport.
How to Enrol in the Netball Program:
An enrolment form can be obtained by contacting Governor Stirling Senior High School Administration Office by phone or email and will be sent out with the complete enrolment package upon your request. When returning your Netball application form please enclose - a written reference from your school as well as a personal reference along with a copy of your most recent school report. Details regarding the interviews and try outs will be posted to applicants.
