Workplace Learning
This Curriculum Council Course offers students the opportunity to acquire and develop employability skills in the workplace. Students are required to complete a log book and written tasks as well as being “signed off” in a number of work skills by their host employer. Each student has the opportunity to try two different workplaces each year and to gain experience in a supportive environment. Workplace Learning requires completion of an application, followed by an interview. Students have to attend an Induction and OHS training prior to going into the workplace. In 2012, students will attend WPL for two days each week. An alternative mode whereby students attend the workplace in week blocks is also available to select students.
As well as the Course of Study, Workplace Learning is also offered as Endorsed Programs ie On-the-job training (Mode 1) and Employability Skills (Mode 2). Also, Students working as volunteers or who have part time jobs can also earn credits towards graduation by participating in the Work Skills Endorsed Program.
For more information about Workplace Learning and these endorsed programs contact the VET Coordinator Ms Sue Riegert (who is based at the CJ Campus) on 9379 5116.
