VET Certificates

Completion of certificates contributes toward attainment of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Students are provided with information about the courses available when selecting their Year 11 and 12 subjects.

 

Certificates offered at Governor Stirling SHS include:

  • Certificate IV in Business
  • Certificate III in Business
  • Certificate II in Creative Industries
  • Certificate II in Sport and Recreation (Netball and Football focused)

Certificate IV in Business

This qualification is delivered over two years under the auspices of Skills Strategies International and Pathway Skills Centre RTO 2401

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. These individuals may have supervisory performance accountabilities.
Individuals in these roles carry out a mix of specialist and moderately complex administrative or operational tasks that require self-development skills. They use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

It is a requirement of this qualification that Students complete rostered days in the Student Model Office and run a small business.

Certificate III in Business

This qualification is delivered over two years under the auspices of IVET RTO 40548

This qualification reflects the varied roles of individuals across different industry sectors who apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Certificate II in Creative Industries

This qualification is delivered over two years under the auspices of Skills Strategies International and Pathway Skills Centre RTO 2401

This qualification reflects the role of individuals with the skills and knowledge to perform in a range of varied activities in the creative industries where there is a clearly defined range of contexts. Activities are of limited complexity with required actions clearly defined.

Certificate II in Sport and Recreation

This qualification is delivered over two years under the auspices of IVET RTO 40548

This qualification allows individuals to develop basic functional knowledge and skills for work in customer contact positions in the sport or community recreation industry. These individuals are competent in a range of administrative activities and functions within a team and under supervision. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic sport and recreation industry knowledge.
Students work in locations such as sport and recreation centres or facilities, and leisure and aquatic centres assisting with the conduct of recreation activities, and facility maintenance and operations. Possible job titles include:

• community activities assistant
• customer service assistant
• leisure assistant
• recreation assistant
• retail assistant
• grounds assistant
• facility assistant.
• Students applying for this course must be a Specialist Football program or Netball program student
